About Timi

Timi is what an insurance agent became.

For years, buying car insurance meant a phone call, a visit, a form and a wait. Your agent quoted by hand, compared what they had time to compare, and called you back days later with an option or two. We sell policies that run from 1 day to 365 days, and none of them should take days to buy.

That trade is not disappearing: it is evolving. Timi does the same work the agent did — understand what you need, go to the insurers, compare and bring you the best of it — except in seconds instead of days, and showing all three coverage levels at once instead of only the most expensive one.

Timi's founder has more than 35 years in insurance: first as an individual agent under the ISTRA name, then leading ISTRA as a corporate agent. Timi is the new team member — the one who takes over the day-to-day, with the same judgement and none of the waiting.

Who is behind Timi

Timi is an artificial-intelligence insurance agent. That does not mean there are no humans behind it: Timi is backed by ISTRA (ISTRA Agente de Seguros y de Fianzas, S.A. de C.V.), one of Mexico's most established insurance brokers, with a physical office in Guadalajara, commercial and digital operations across the country, and more than 35 years in the trade. In Mexican insurance usage, a broker is a large, better-equipped agent: one who negotiates with the insurers as an equal.

Why is Timi a separate company instead of a chat window inside ISTRA? Because the world is changing: AI agents are joining companies as one more member of the team, and at ISTRA — always early with technology — that member has a name of its own. Timi runs the day-to-day; the judgement, the experience and the relationships are ISTRA's.

What that means for you when you buy through Timi:

Two licensed companies. Both Timi and ISTRA are insurance agents authorized by Mexico's Comisión Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas (CNSF), the national insurance regulator.
Top-tier access to the insurers. We place business with Qualitas, Chubb and HDI Seguros with the standing of a broker that has been placing risk with them for more than 35 years, not that of a new intermediary.
Help with claims and paperwork. If you have a claim, an endorsement, a cancellation or any other matter with the insurer, ISTRA's people walk you through it. Covering a risk includes being there when the risk happens.

How it works and who answers

Timi quotes and guides you; the insurer carries the risk. The policy you receive is issued by Qualitas, Chubb or HDI Seguros depending on the product you choose, with the same backing, the same coverage and the same validity as if you had bought it through any other channel. Timi is the licensed agent that sells it.

The AI does not set your premium: the insurer calculates it with its own rates. What Timi does is bring those rates in live, put them side by side and let you decide.

What we sell

Mexican insurance for foreign-plated cars — for vehicles with US or Canadian plates driving into Mexico. Your US or Canadian policy is not valid here.
Liability coverage for crossing into the United States — for cars and motorcycles with Mexican plates crossing the border. A Mexican policy is not valid up there.
Car insurance inside Mexico — liability (the legally required cover), limited and full coverage, comparing Qualitas and Chubb.
Motorcycle insurance and tractor-trailer insurance — same flow, same insurers.
Cargo insurance by trip — freight covered warehouse to warehouse, backed by HDI Seguros, with the certificate issued in about 60 seconds.
