The temporary import permit (TIP) is not required in Baja California, Baja California Sur, or the Sonora free zone that covers Rocky Point, Kino, San Carlos, and Golfo de Santa Clara. If your route takes the truck into mainland Mexico beyond the border zone, the TIP is a separate requirement from your insurance policy.
